Scotland Gears Up for the Nexo Championship Showdown
The Nexo Championship tees off this Thursday, 7 August, marking the final tournament of the Global Swing Phase One in the Race to Dubai. After a short summer break, the DP World Tour resumes at the stunning Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
Not only are vital Race to Dubai points on the line, but players are also vying for qualification in the Closing Swing, the prestigious BMW PGA Championship, and a US$200,000 bonus purse.
Local Heroes Lead the Charge
Scotland will be well represented with Connor Syme, Calum Hill, Ewen Ferguson, Richie Ramsay, Grant Forrest, and Martin Laird all in action on home soil.
-
Connor Syme comes into the week with newfound confidence following his recent KLM Open victory, and the Scot is eager to notch up a win in front of a home crowd.
-
Ewen Ferguson, a three-time DP World Tour winner, is also looking to lift a trophy in his homeland. “It’s a rare treat to be able to just drive to the course,” Ferguson said. “Playing at home is always special.”
Meanwhile, Kristoffer Reitan, a graduate from the HotelPlanner Tour, headlines the international field. As the highest-ranked player this week, the Norwegian will look to cement his status as one of Europe’s rising stars.
From the Archives
Previously held as the Scottish Championship, this event was last staged in October 2020 when Adrián Otaegui secured a four-shot win over Matt Wallace at Fairmont St Andrews. Otaegui returns this week, hoping for a repeat performance.
