The riders enjoyed a rest day on Monday and now return for the final stages of the 2025 Tour de France. Stage 16 starts in Montpellier and ends 171.5 kms later up the mythical Mont Ventoux climb.
We preview the stage and look at the latest Jersey betting.
Stage 15 Review
Stage 15 turned out to be one for the breakaway as UAE Team Emirates rider and Belgian National Champion, Tim Wellens, attacked the breakaway with over 40 kms to go and rode solo to victory. Victor Campenaerts finished 2nd 1.28 behind with Julian Alaphilippe winning the sprint for 3rd place where he raised his hands thinking he had taken the victory.
Th Yellow Jersey candidates declared something of a cease-fire and rode in just over 6 minutes behind.

This is proving to be one of the more exciting classifications and Milan now leads Pogacar by 28 points with Van Der Poel a further 23 points back.
Milan remains a clear favourite at 1.35 with Van Der Poel 5.00 and Pogacar 6.00 and each rider has stages that suit their styles over the coming days.
Polka Dot Update – click here to bet
Lenny Martinez is 8 points clear of Pogacar with Saturday’s stage winner, Arensman a further 4 points back.
Pogacar though remains a firm favourite for the Polka Dot Jersey at 1.45, Martinez is 4.00 with Arensman 6.00.
Stage Profile
The only real difficulty on this stage is the finishing climb of Mont Ventoux which is 15.7 kms at 8.8% average. The first 133 kms are fairly flat and the sprint point comes after 112 kms.
Stage 16 – What to Expect
It will be interesting to see how hard the fight for the breakaway is, as deep down the riders must know that this is an easy stage for the likes of UAE and Visma to control and it is in all likelihood going to end in a race amongst the favourites. Milan’s Lidl-Trek team may even try to keep things together so that he can pick up a maximum 20 points at the sprint, but it really is going to depend on the attitude of the riders.
One way or another I see this all coming back together either before Mont Ventoux or on the climb itself and it is very hard to look past a victory for Tadej Pogacar.

BET: Pogacar win at 1.40
I wouldn’t usually take such a short-priced favourite, but given we have the money back for 2nd place insurance here (which we took advantage of this past Saturday when Pogacar finished 2nd), I really can’t see any value in opposing Pogacar. (See promo below)

BET: Felix Gall to beat Florian Lipowitz at 2.80
Gall looked excellent on Saturday even attacking at one point and then finishing 4th in the stage behind Pogacar, Vingegaard and Arensman. Lipowitz has been going brilliantly, but he is untested in a 3-week Tour and Gall looks the value to beat him.
