English Premier League Betting Preview, Sunday 16 March

This Sunday, we close out the weekend with three thrilling English Premier League fixtures, offering plenty of analysis and our top betting picks for each game.

First up, we turn our attention to the battle for the title. Liverpool are in the driver’s seat with a commanding 15-point lead and are heavily favoured at an unbackable 1/160. Arsenal trail behind at 35/1, while the rest of the challengers are well off the pace, priced at 175/1 or longer.

There are other long term markets that are still competitive though such as “Winner without the Big 6” where Nottingham Forest are the 1.90 favourites.

ARSENAL v CHELSEA – Click here to bet

Arsenal will be eager to translate their European success into domestic form when they host Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday. Fresh off a dominant 9-2 aggregate victory over PSV in the Champions League Round of 16, the Gunners now turn their attention back to the Premier League, where their recent struggles have left them trailing league leaders Liverpool. Sitting second with 55 points from 28 matches, Mikel Arteta’s side has gone three league games without a win (D2, L1), including last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Manchester United. With the title race slipping away, Arsenal’s most realistic target appears to be securing another runners-up finish.

Chelsea, meanwhile, arrive in North London on the back of a crucial 1-0 win over Leicester City, securing consecutive league victories for the first time in weeks. The Blues, currently fourth with 49 points, are in a fierce battle to retain their Champions League spot, with Manchester City, Newcastle, Brighton, and Aston Villa all in pursuit. However, their poor away form remains a major concern—Enzo Maresca’s side has picked up just one point from a possible 15 in their last five away league matches (D1, L4), making Sunday’s clash a tough challenge.

Head-to-Head

Earlier this season, both teams played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge. Meanwhile, last season, Arsenal cruised to a dominant 5-0 victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.

Betting

Arsenal 5/6

Draw 11/4

Chelsea 7/2

Verdict

Arsenal had the luxury of resting key players during their midweek European game, thanks to their dominant first-leg performance away to PSV. Despite recent domestic struggles, their strong European form suggests they are well-equipped to respond. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s inconsistency and poor away record raise concerns ahead of this clash. This looks like the ideal opportunity for Arsenal to reassert themselves, and I’m backing the hosts to take all three points.

Suggested Bet: Full Time Result – Arsenal at 5/6

FULHAM v TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR – Click here to bet

Fulham find themselves in 10th place with 42 points from 28 games, but their form has been anything but convincing. A 2-1 defeat to Brighton last time out extended their patchy run, with just one win from their last five league outings (D2, L2). Home form has been equally unpredictable, and Marco Silva will be desperate to see more consistency from his side. Their last appearance at Craven Cottage ended in disappointment, as London rivals Crystal Palace left with a 2-0 win. Defensively, Fulham have struggled to keep things tight at home, with both teams scoring in 11 of their 14 league matches at the Cottage—something worth noting for this encounter.

Tottenham, meanwhile, head into Sunday’s clash on a high after booking their place in the Europa League quarter-finals with a 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday. It’s a rare bright spot in what has been a frustrating domestic campaign. Sitting 13th with 34 points from 28 matches (W10, D4, L14), Spurs have fallen well short of expectations this season. Their 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth last weekend did little to ease concerns, as Ange Postecoglou’s side continue to struggle for consistency. However, their away form has shown some promise lately, with back-to-back wins on the road—2-0 at Brentford and a commanding 4-1 victory at Ipswich—suggesting they may be better suited to playing away from home right now.

Head-to-Head

Earlier this season, both teams played out a 1-1 draw, while last season, Fulham delivered a dominant display, claiming a 3-0 victory in this fixture at Craven Cottage.

Betting

Fulham 1/1

Draw 29/10

Tottenham Hotspur 5/2

Verdict

Fulham’s inconsistency, both at home and away, makes them difficult to trust, especially after their recent struggles at Craven Cottage. Tottenham, despite their underwhelming league campaign, have shown improvement on the road and will be buoyed by their Europa League success. Given Fulham’s defensive frailties at home, the prospect of both teams finding the back of the net mostly appeals.

Suggested Bet: Both Teams to Score – Yes at 8/15

LEICESTER CITY v MANCHESTER UNITED – Click here to bet

Leicester City’s struggles are becoming increasingly hard to ignore, as they languish in 19th place with only 17 points from 28 games. Their form has been nothing short of disastrous, with a dismal six-game losing streak in all competitions, including five consecutive defeats in the league. Things have been no better on home soil, where they hold the third-worst record in the league, claiming just 9 points from 14 matches, coupled with a concerning -16 goal difference. Last week’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea further exposed their problems, marking their fifth consecutive league loss without finding the back of the net, and underscoring their toothless attack. With their confidence shattered and a squad low on morale, Leicester face a real uphill battle this weekend, and the prospect of another heavy defeat could quickly add to their woes in what’s rapidly becoming a season to forget.

In stark contrast, Manchester United arrive with a sense of renewed purpose after a commanding 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday, securing their place in the Europa League quarter-finals. Their European exploits have provided a welcome distraction, but their domestic form remains unconvincing. A 1-1 draw with Arsenal last weekend offered some encouragement, as United produced a more assured performance, yet the frustration of not securing all three points lingered. With 34 points from 28 games (W10, D4, L14), they find themselves languishing in 14th place—far below the standards expected of them. Their away record has also been inconsistent, picking up just five points from their last five league trips (W1, D2, L2). While Ruben Amorim’s side continues to navigate through their struggles, they’ll be eager to build on their European momentum and inject some positivity into their league campaign, hoping to salvage something from an otherwise frustrating season.

Head-to-Head

These two sides have already met three times this season (in the league, FA Cup and EFL Cup), with Manchester United emerging victorious on all three occasions. In the reverse league fixture earlier this season, the Red Devils delivered a dominant 3-0 win at Old Trafford.

Betting

Leicester City 16/5

Draw 28/10

Manchester United 17/20

Verdict

Leicester City’s struggles are hard to ignore, as they continue to slide towards the Championship next season. Their lack of firepower and poor home form make them vulnerable against a Manchester United side that, despite their own inconsistencies, has shown signs of improvement. United have triumphed in all three meetings between the sides this season, including a dominant 3-0 win at Old Trafford in the league. With Leicester’s confidence shattered and United looking to build momentum, a positive result for the visitors seems likely.

Suggested Bet: Full Time Result – Manchester United at 17/20
