HURRICANES vs FIJIAN DRUA – Click here to bet
After a solid season in 2024, the Hurricanes have not got off to the start they would’ve hoped for and after 1 game they are placed 10th on the log with 0 points and a points difference of -8.
They clashed with the Crusaders away in round one of the competition and although they came close, they were unable to get the job done, losing the match by 8 points with a scoreline of 33-25.
Fijian Drua are in 8th on the log with 1 point to their name after claiming a losing bonus point against the Brumbies last weekend. They possess a points difference of -4.
They gave the Brumbies a serious run for their money on Saturday, but they were unable to execute at crucial times which resulted in a 36-32 defeat in Fiji.
Head-to-Head
These sides have met three times before, with the first fixture in 2022 ending in a 67-5 win for the Hurricanes at home. The second match held in the 2023 season saw Fijian Drua pull off an upset to clinch a 27-24 victory in Fiji and their most recent clash resulted in a 38-15 Hurricanes win on the road last year.
Betting and Verdict
Handicap: Hurricanes (-18.5)
Hurricanes are priced at 1.11 with Fijian Drua at 9.00 and the draw trading at 51.00
The Drua have a very poor away record in this competition and I think the Hurricanes can win this by 20+

HIGHLANDERS vs BLUES – Click here to bet
The Highlanders sit in 7th overall after round one, level on points with Moana Pasifika after also claiming a bonus point as a result of their defeat on Friday.
Their opening match of the tournament was played against the Waratahs at Allianz Stadium. The fixture was action packed with tons of points scored and in the end the Highlanders fell just 1 point short of victory with the scoreboard reflecting 37-36 to the home team after a last minute converted try.
The Blues are in last place on the table after their first match. They currently hold a points difference stat of -11 points but it is early days for the defending champions.
They met with the Chiefs on Saturday in a clash that did not go their way and when the final whistle blew the Chiefs won 25-14 with the Blues failing to score a point in the 2nd half.
Head-to-Head
The most recent fixture between these teams was played in 2024 when the Blues dominated to win 47-13 at home. The Highlanders have not won against the Blues since 2021, which puts the Blues on an 8 match winning streak.
Betting and Verdict
Handicap: Highlanders (+11.5)
Blues are favourites at 1.25 with Highlanders further back at 5.00 and the draw at 34.00.
I thought the Blues were a bit disappointing against the Chiefs and while I expect them to win I am not convinced they will beat the handicap.
BET: Winning Margin, Blues under 12.5 points at 2.70
BRUMBIES vs WESTERN FORCE – Click here to bet
The Brumbies have left themselves in 3rd position on the log after they clinched a win last weekend to pick up 4 points.
Their opening match was played against Fijian Drua who put up a fight, but the Brumbies did enough to seal the deal with a 4-point victory and start their season strong.
Western Force played in a nail biter a week ago which resulted in their first win and 4 points under their belt, this puts them in 4th on the log.
They went head-to-head with Moana Pasifika in a high-scoring affair which concluded in a 45-44 triumph for the Force at HBF Park but only after a brilliant late solo try from Donaldson on the back of a 26 phase build up.
Head-to-Head
Over their last three meetings the Brumbies have won 2 of the games with Force winning 1. Western Force’s victory came in 2023 when they won 34-19 at home. The next two games were won 22-19 in Canberra and 24-19 in Perth by the Brumbies with both games taking place in 2024.
Betting and Verdict
Handicap: Brumbies (-14.5)
Brumbies are comfortably ahead in terms of prices at 1.16 with the Force trading at 6.50 and the draw at 41.00.
I was impressed by the character of the Force last week and I think they can beat this handicap.
