Eight on Eighteen Shines at the World Sports Betting Cape Town Met
In an exciting race, Eight on Eighteen, the only three-year-old in the line-up, claimed victory in the Grade 1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth.
The colt, sired by Lancaster Bomber and out of the Captain Al mare Sempre Libre, showed his class with a strong run down the inner rail, overtaking his rivals in the final stretch. Trained by Justin Snaith and bred by Drakenstein Stud, Eight on Eighteen proved he was up to the challenge despite his inexperience.
Jockey Richard Fourie, confident before the race, praised the colt’s talent and quick progress, saying only immaturity could stop him. Carrying 54kg, Eight on Eighteen showed an impressive turn of speed, coming from ten lengths back to take the lead at the crucial moment. His older rivals couldn’t keep up with his acceleration.
Oriental Charm, who set the pace, finished second after a brave run on the standside rail, just half a length behind. Montien, See It Again, and Rascallion completed the top five in a close and thrilling finish.
This win confirms Eight on Eighteen as a rising star in South African racing, with fans eagerly waiting to see what he will achieve next.
