MI CAPE TOWN
Having beaten the Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 97 runs in Gqeberha in their opening match, MI Cape Town travelled to Johannesburg to face the Joburg Super Kings at the Wanderers on Saturday night.
The Joburg Super Kings won the toss and sent the MI Cape Town into bat and in cool and overcast conditions the visitors were soon in trouble at 30 for 4 in the 9th over. George Linde and Delano Potgieter got together for an excellent 65 runs stand to get their team to 140 for 6 in 20 overs. Linde scored 48 off 35 balls and Potgieter 44 off 22.
The Joburg Super Kings chase was disrupted by rain and when the game was abandoned after 11.3 overs they were ahead on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method sitting on 82 for 3. Rabada had looked the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for 10 runs in 2.3 overs.
PAARL ROYALS
The Royals welcomed the defending Champions, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape to Boland Park on Saturday afternoon. The Sunrisers won the toss and scored what looked a formidable 175 for 5 in their 20 overs. Pick of the bowlers was Mujeeb Ur Rahman who took 2 for 27 in his 4 overs for the Royals.
The Royals started brilliantly with the first wicket partnership of 132 between Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Joe Root. Root finished unbeaten on 62 while Pretorius was out for 97 off just 51 balls and the Royals won by 9 wickets and with 8 balls to spare.

MI Cape Town 8/10
Paarl Royals 11/10
I had written off the Paarl Royals chances this season, but they certainly impressed in their opening game and Pretorius in particular looks a star in the making. I am going to leave the Outright Betting and look for some in-running options and will instead get involved with some of the other markets on offer.
The Total Sixes line of 11.5 looks too tempting to resist. MI Cape Town themselves scored 11 sixes in their opening game in Gqeberha and there were 12 sixes in Paarl, a ground which is not a great one for boundary clearance.
BET: Over 11.5 Sixes at 8/10
Dewald Brevis has looked a different player so far in this year’s SA20, although he only just got into double figures at the Wanderers. His first innings in Gqeberha was an impressive 57 and at 5/1 he has my money to be top MI Cape Town batter.
BET: Top MI Cape Town Batter, Brevis at 5/1
Here is a speculator on Paarl Royals first over. Joe Root is a player who works the ball around and Pretorius has clearly shown he enjoys finding the boundary. I am going to bet that they get 6 runs or more in the first over.
BET: Over 1, Paarl Royals Total over 5.5 runs at 17/20
