The second and final match of the two-test series between South Africa and Sri Lanka will start on Thursday the 5th of December at the St George’s Oval. South Africa will be looking to wrap up the series and keep their hopes of making the World Test Championships final alive.
We look at some of the betting options available to bettors.
1st TEST MATCH
South Africa sent in to bat
The first test match was held last week at the Kingsmead Stadium in Durban where Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.
Their bowling attack was firing from the get-go, taking a few early wickets which made it hard for South Africa to keep the runs flowing. They maintained this form throughout the innings, bowling the Proteas out for a low total of 191 runs in the 50th over.
Top South African batsman was Captain, Temba Bavuma who scored 70 runs off 117 balls, on the Sri Lankan end of things, Asitha Fernando claimed top bowling figures with 3 wickets for 44 runs in his 14.4 over spell.
Sri Lanka bundled out
Sri Lanka then took to the pitch to begin the chase, however, they crumbled right from the start, with wickets falling at frequent intervals. The South African bowling line-up were on point and restricted their opponents to just 42 runs all out with just less then 14 overs being bowled.
Top batsmen from Sri Lanka was Kamindu Mendis who scored a shocking 13 runs off 20 balls. Marco Jansen put in a stellar performance picking up 7 wickets for just 13 runs in his 6.5 overs.
Bat them out the game!
The second innings then began with South Africa taking to the crease and despite losing 3 wickets relatively early, they looked a lot more comfortable, forming some valuable partnerships which led to them declaring on 366 runs for 5 wickets.
Tristan Stubbs was the star of the show putting up 122 runs off 221 balls and he was well accompanied by Temba Bavuma who ended on 113 off 228 deliveries. Prabath Jayasuriya was the top bowler for the Sri Lankan team, taking 2 wickets for 132 runs in a massive 40 overs.
Sri Lankan resistance eventually crumbles
Sri Lanka then picked up the bat for the final time with a lot of work to do in their final innings, and although they did a lot better this time around, they were bowled out for 282 runs, with South Africa picking up a 233 runs victory to go 1-0 up in the series.
Dinesh Chandimal top scored with 83 for the visitors and Jansen picked up 4 wickets for a match haul of 11.

South Africa 1.35

Sri Lanka 3.75
Suggested Bet: South African Top Bowler 1st Innings – Marco Jansen at 2.45
He was on superb form in the last test match, taking 7 wickets in the first innings and 4 wickets in the second, which led to him being top SA bowler both times. He is very much at home at the St Georges Oval and I am expecting his sharp bounce to trouble the visitors once again.
Suggested Bet: Bowler Total Match Wickets – Asitha Fernando over 3.5 wickets at 1.85
He picked up a total of 4 wickets last time around and he was one of the bowlers that impressed me and I am backing him to at least match his performance in Durban.
