Week 2 of the new DP World Tour season takes place in Melbourne as players travel across Australia from Brisbane to take part in Australia’s National Open. We select 3 players to take on the bookmakers.
Format
The format of this week’s tournament is a little different from the norm and it will be played over two different courses and alongside the woman’s Australian Open.
This will be the third consecutive year that the Australian Open is part of the DP World Tour.
Course
Kingston Health Golf Club will be the main course of the week as golfers will play it once on either Wednesday or Thursday and then it will host Friday and Saturday’s rounds. The course is laid out on Melbourne’s famous sand belt with firm and fast fairways and extremely quick greens. Players will have to avoid as much sand as possible if they want to go low.
The Victoria Golf Club will be the other course that is played this week. It is 350 yards shorter than Kingston Health.

SELECTIONS:
Cameron Smith @ 8.00
Smith has been on an impeccable run of form recently finishing runner-up in his previous two tournaments and 3rd in his tournament before that. The Australian will be looking to put on a show in front of his home crowd and will be desperate to get a win on home soil. With his brilliant recent results, it is only a matter of time before he gets another win under his belt although he was disappointing here in 2022 not making it into Sundays action.
Cameron Smith each way at 8.00
Elvis Smylie at 61.00
Smylie had a weekend to remember last weekend as he won the Australian PGA Championship in front of a home crowd at Royal Queensland Golf Club. In a brilliant last round, he managed to hold off Cam Smith and Mark Leishman, two world renowned golfers, as he finished two shots ahead. He now has four top 5 finishes including 2 victories as well as a top 10 and a top 25 in his last six starts. He’ll be looking to carry through his momentum from last weekend into this weekend and is nicely priced.
Elvis Smylie each way at 61.00
Angel Ayora at 41.00
Ayora has been on a solid run of form over his last three tournaments. He managed to finish 6th at last weekend’s Australian PGA Championship while finishing runner-up in both of his previous two starts prior to last weekend. The Spaniard will be looking to continue this run of form as he goes into this weekend and gets a solid start to the new DP World Tour season.
Angel Ayora each way at 41.00
