South Africa have performed well in test cricket this season, and they will look to put up a dominant display against Sri Lanka during these two fixtures.
They took on West Indies on West Indies soil in two test matches which were held in August. The first match ended in a draw, however second match however went the way of South Africa who managed to clinch a 40-run victory and win the series 1-0.
The Proteas most recent encounter was with Bangladesh away over two-legs which were played in October. South Africa were in good form across the two matches, winning both, with the first match ending in a 7-wicket win. The second match was a stellar performance from the South African line-up, who declared on 575/6 and then bowled Bangladesh out twice, winning the match by an innings and 273 runs.
Sri Lanka have been inconsistent in the test match format this year and they will look to improve what is a poor away record against South Africa.
Earlier on in the year, in August/September they took on England while touring. The series consisted of 3 matches in which Sri Lanka won just 1. The first match resulted in a 5-wicket England win, and the second saw England win by 190 runs. The third and final match saw Sri Lanka dominate to win what was a dead rubber by 8 wickets, losing the series 2-1.
Their most recent action was in a two-match series against New Zealand, where both matches were played at the Galle International Stadium. Sri Lanka dominated the series, winning the first match by 63 runs and the second test saw Sri Lanka win by an innings and 154 runs after declaring on 602/5.
Head-To-Head
The last time these two sides met in test format was back in 2020/2021, where they played a two-match series which was won by hosts South Africa who picked up a win by an innings and 45 runs to start the series at SuperSport Park. They then went on to win the second match by 10 wickets at the Wanderers Stadium, cruising to a comfortable 2-0 triumph
