This is the final week for the pros to secure their PGA Tour playing cards for next year. The field will head to Georgia to take on the RSM Classic and we select 4 players to take on the bookmakers.
Course
This week’s tournament will be played over 2 Sea Island courses, Seaside and Plantation. Both courses are built close to the Atlantic Ocean and are constantly challenged by the weather. Water comes into play on numerous holes throughout both courses so wayward shots are often punished. The Plantation course is more of a Parkland course while the Seaside course has more of a links layout and feel to it.
There are no obvious stats pointers to finding a winner but accuracy into the greens is perhaps the most important.

Ludvig Aberg returns to defend his title having dominated with a tournament record -29 last year and the bookies have him as favourite to win at 10.00. Davis Thompson is trading at 23.00 while Brian Harman and Denny McCarthy are trading at 26.00.
Aberg is a class act but given he hasn’t been in action lately I am going to oppose him this week.

SELECTIONS:
Mackenzie Hughes at 36.00
Hughes has had an impressive record at the RSM Classic finishing runner-up in two of the last three events. He also knows what it feels like to win the tournament, winning it nine years ago in 2015. He has an 8th place and 4th place finish in his last three starts on tour and ticks a lot of boxes this week.

Lucas Glover at 41.00
Glover is another player who has been in good form, finishing third on two occasions in his last four starts as well as a 24th place finish three weeks ago. Glover has also finished in the top 25 in this tournament in three of his last five starts at the event although he has not played here since 2021. The veteran professional is playing excellent golf again and I am backing him to deliver in a solid result this weekend.

Brain Harman at 26.00.
Brian Harman has been a consistent player at the RSM Classic over the years, playing in the tournament every year since 2014. He has only missed the cut three times while finishing in the top 5 twice and in the top 15 on another occasion. Harman has not played a lot of golf recently, but his most recent result was a 13th place finish five weeks ago. The major championship winner has the game to get into the mix come the back 9 on Sunday.

Whaley is my rank outsider this week. He finished 5th last week and that result was backed up by 2 top 20 finishes in his previous 4 starts. He showed form here for the 1st time in 2023 finishing in the top 15. In an event that has thrown up some big price winners he can hopefully fill that role this week.
