Their most recent action was when they went head-to-head with Ireland in a 2-match series in late September where both fixtures were played on neutral territory at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The first match saw the Proteas put up a dominant display which led to an 8 wicket victory, but the second time around they landed up on the losing side after failing to chase down the Irish total and losing the match by 10 runs. Prior to this they lost a series 3-0 against the West Indies away from home.
India have played 21 T20’s in 2024 winning 20 and losing just 1. They have won their last 10 matches in succession.
Their most recent clash was in a 3-match series against Bangladesh at home which was held early in October. India put up dominant performances on all 3 occasions, claiming a 3-0 victory over their opponents. They won the first match by 7 wickets and then went on to win the second game by 86 runs, they were not finished there, however, and they put the nail in the coffin with a 133-run win in the final game.

These sides have met in December 2023 on South African soil and the 2 match series finished 1-1. The 1st T20 was held at St George’s Park, where South Africa won by 5 wickets, the second went the way of India just 2 days later when they pulled off a 106 runs victory at the Wanderers Cricket Stadium.

It is tempting to take India at current odds given their winning run but South Africa have a strong squad at their disposal and the visitors are missing a few players to injury. I am going to serve the match winner market for now and will look for in-running options.

He was in good form in the Ireland series scoring 2 half-centuries and if he can carry that form into this series he is a player who hits plenty of 4’s.

Klassen is the most dangerous T20 batter in the world and South Africa will look to get him in somewhere in the middle of the innings which would give him plenty of time to clear the ropes.
