There is plenty of Olympic action to watch and bet on this Friday and we take a look at some of the highlights and suggest a play of the day.

ATHLETICS
The action gets underway with a number of qualification events including the Decathlon, the Men’s 1500m and the Women’s 100m and High Jump.
The evening session also has plenty of qualification events and is highlighted by the Men’s 10000m where Gold, Silver and Bronze are up for grabs.
Ugandan Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei is the 15/10 favourite with Ethiopain Yomif Kejelcha his market rival at 9/4.

SOCCER
We have reached the quarter-final stage of the Men’s soccer and France are the 22/10 favourites ahead of Spain at 28/10 – click here for outright betting
Spain are 1/1 to see off Japan in 90 minutes and France are 5/4 to beat Argentina with the draw 95/40 and Argentina 12/5.

HOCKEY
The South African men are in action against France and they are 26/10 to score an upset win with France 8/11 and the draw 7/2.
While putting in some good performances the SA men have yet to win a game but the same can be said about their opponents France.
I think it could be time for a South African win.
SWIMMING
There is South African interest in the Men’s 100m Butterfly where Matthew Sates (200/1) takes place in the qualifying and Rebecca Meder (150/1) lines up in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley heats.
The Women’s 200m Backstroke final should be a good watch although the betting suggests a comfortable win for Kaylee McKeown who is priced at 2/7. I expect Regan Smith (9/2) to give her a run for her money.
The Men’s 50m Freestyle should see a blanket finish and Cameron Mcevoy is the 5/6 favourite.
Leon Marchand has been on fire in this Olympics and he is the 1/5 favourite to take out the Men’s 200m Individual Medley.
FRIDAYS PLAY OF THE DAY
I am going to take a speculative accumulator covering 3 events.
Soccer: Spain to beat Japan at 1/1
Hockey: South Africa to beat France at 26/10
Athletics: Kiprui Cheptegei to win the 10000m at 15/10
The treble works out at 17/1
