Barbora Krejcikova takes on Jasmine Paolini in the Wimbledon Final on Saturday and we take a look at what should be a tight contest.
BARBORA KREJCIKOVA
The 28 year old Czechoslovakian 31st seed, Barbora Krejcikova continued her excellent run when she upset 4th seed Rybakina in the semi-finals. Krejcikova, tipped in this column at 7/2 to cause an upset lost the first set 3-6, but stormed back to win 6-3 and 6-4 to book her spot in the final.
She had seen off 13th seed Ostapenko 6,4 7-6 in her quarter-final and her only other set dropped in the Tournament was in the first round match against unseeded Kudermetova.
This is the furthest she has ever progressed at Wimbledon, but she does have a Grand Slam Title to her name as she won the French Open in 2021.
JASMINE PAOLINI
7th Seeded Italian, Jasmine Paolini had to work hard for her semi-final win over the unseeded Vekic. Vekic took the first set 6-2, but Paolini came back with a 6-4 win in the second and the match went to a tie-breaker in the third set with Paolini eventually winning 10-8.
She had a much easier time of things in her quarter-final when she beat 19th seed, Navarro 6-2, 6-1 and her only other set dropped in the Tournament was in the Round of 16 when she beat Madison Keys, with Keys unable to complete the match which was tied up at 5-5 in the third set.
Paolini makes her first Wimbledon Final, but her second Grand Slam Final in succession having lost in the French Open a couple of months ago and the Italian will be desperate to go one better this time around.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
These players have never met each other on Tour and their only meeting, prior to getting on Tour, was when Krejcikova beat Paolini comfortably in the qualifier of the Australian Open in 2018. At the time neither player was even in the Top 100 in the World.

Prediction
Krejcikova delivered good odds for us in the semi-final and although she is much shorter in the betting this time around, I have been so impressed with her play and I am going to have a punt that she wins her second Grand Slam Title
BET: Krejcikova win at 7/10
There are plenty of other markets for punters to get involved in such as the Correct Score where Krejcikova to win 2-1 is trading at 33/10 and if you fancy this game could be close then Over 22.5 Games at 19/20 will appeal.
