We take a look at the remaining set of quarter-finals scheduled to take place this Saturday where we suggest a bet on both crucial encounters.

Before we proceed, let’s review the latest outright market prices. Despite their low-key performances thus far, England remain favourites at 15/4, with Spain following closely at 4/1. Hosts Germany, along with our tournament pick, France, are available at 9/2. The Netherlands have shortened significantly, edging out Portugal as the next best at 7/1, while Portugal has drifted out to 9/1. The rest of the field can be picked up at 14/1 or better.

ENGLAND v SWITZERLAND – Click here to bet

Tournament favourites England continue their Euro journey this Saturday, facing a very determined Swiss team in Düsseldorf in the last eight, hoping to secure a semi-final berth where they will face either the Netherlands or Turkey. So far, the Three Lions have yet to impress in this tournament, given their rather uninspired results despite a very favourable draw in the group stages. Having almost crashed out to Slovakia in the round of 16, England found themselves trailing 1-0 at the break, requiring a moment of brilliance from Jude Bellingham deep into stoppage time to save their blushes and take the game into extra time. An inspired substitution from Gareth Southgate provided the necessary assist for England’s front man, Harry Kane, to find the back of the net, securing his second goal of the tournament and sending them through to the quarter-finals with a hard fought 2-1 victory. The Swiss will pose a tough challenge for England, motivated by their own goals. Beaten quarterfinalists in the previous edition, the Red Crosses will aim for their first semi-final appearance, a significant achievement considering this is only their sixth European Championship since its inception.

England enter the quarter-finals averaging 0.75 goals per game so far in the tournament (90 minutes), with under 2.5 goals occurring in 100% of those matches (4 out of 4).

Switzerland enters the quarter-finals on the back of yet another impressive performance in the tournament, eliminating the current holders Italy in the round of 16. Murat Yakin’s team demonstrated their superiority over the Azzurri, securing a commanding 2-0 victory. Unbeaten in their matches held in Germany, the Swiss finished as runners-up in Group A alongside hosts Germany, showcasing their growing prowess in the Euros. Their recent run of form cannot be taken lightly, having extended their unbeaten streak to eight games overall. With such a formidable record, Switzerland will certainly fancy their chances given they will face an English team that look very much out of sorts at the moment. Their solid defensive play and clinical finishing against Italy highlight their capability to unsettle any opponent and this weekend will provide an opportunity to continue their impressive run in the hopes of advancing one step closer to European glory.

Switzerland enter the quarter-finals averaging 1.75 goals per game so far in the tournament, with under 2.5 goals occurring in 75% of those matches (3 out of 4).

Head-to-Head

These two teams have faced each other 27 times in total, with England dominating with 19 wins, 5 draws, and 3 defeats. Their most recent encounter resulted in a 2-1 victory for England in an international friendly back in March 2022.

Betting

England 5/4

Draw 2/1

Switzerland 28/10

Prediction

On current form, I simply cannot back the English with much confidence. Failing to register a win in their last two 90-minute appearances will certainly give the Swiss belief that they can continue that trend. I think both teams are likely to find the back of the net in what could end up being another nail-biter in Germany.

Suggested Bet: Double Chance and Both Teams to Score, Draw/Switzerland and Yes at 85/40

NETHERLANDS v TURKEY – Click here to bet

The Netherlands will face Turkey at the Olympiastadion in Berlin, bringing the quarter-finals to a close. Die Oranje bounced back convincingly after their disappointing group stage defeat to Austria, securing an impressive 3-0 victory over Romania in the round of 16. It was a statement of intent from the Dutch, and it’s no surprise to see their outright odds topple to 7/1. With a favourable draw, should they progress beyond the quarters, they will face either England or Switzerland in the semi-finals. Ronald Koeman’s team will certainly fancy their chances of becoming European champions for only the second time in their history, something that has eluded Die Oranje for 36 years. That being said, Netherlands will not underestimate Turkey, given they have similarly flown under the radar for most of the tournament—until now, after their impressive win over Austria in the round of 16.

The Netherlands enter the quarter-finals averaging 1.75 goals per game so far in the tournament, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 75% of those matches (3 out of 4).

Having finished runners-up to Portugal in Group F, Turkey progressed to the round of 16, where they were expected to struggle against a very much in-form Austrian outfit. Holding their nerve, the Crescent-Stars edged past Austria 2-1, requiring a dramatic stoppage-time save from their keeper Mert Günok and booking their place in the quarter-finals for only the third time in this competition. This weekend, Turkey will face an impressive Dutch team, aware of their own defensive flaws. Yet to register a clean sheet at the Euros, the Dutch will surely see that as a potential weakness. This sets up a conundrum for Turkey, as their usual open style of play could potentially be their downfall against a Dutch team that seems to be peaking at just the right time.

Turkey enter the quarter-finals averaging 1.75 goals per game so far in the tournament, with over 2.5 goals occurring in 100% of those matches (4 out of 4).

Head-to-Head

These two teams have played a total of 14 times, with the Dutch holding a slight edge over Turkey with 6 wins, 4 draws, and 4 defeats. Their most recent encounter resulted in a 6-1 victory for the Netherlands in a FIFA World Cup qualifier back in September 2021

Betting

Netherlands 6/10

Draw 3/1

Turkey 5/1

Prediction

Given their similar approach to the game, this looks set to be an explosive encounter likely to result in a few goals. Truth be told, I’m quite surprised to see such favourable odds, considering their recent head-to-head matches and the results they have registered in Germany. While I fancy the Dutch to prevail, I think there is more value in backing 3 goals or more at 8/10, given that neither side is likely to back down.

Suggested Bet: Totals, Over 2.5 at 8/10
