The first quarter-final for the 2024 Super Rugby season kicks off this Friday as the Chiefs host the Reds in Hamilton. We take a look at the match from a betting angle.

The Chiefs finished 4th on the table after winning 9 of their 14 matches in the group stages. They have lost their last two matches, however, they were against number 1 and 2 on the log, the Blues and the Hurricanes. They have won 5 out of their 6 home matches this season which will give them confidence going into Fridays match.
The Reds won 8 of their 14 matches in the group stages, earning them 40 points and 5th position on the table. They have won their last two matches in a row with their most recent result being a 27-26 win away from home against the Waratahs.
The Reds hosted the group stage fixture between the two sides and ended up coming away with the win, the match ending 25-19.
The Chiefs are favourites to win the match and are trading at 1.22 while the Reds are trading at 5.50. The handicap at the time of writing is Reds [+10.5]. The home ground advantage should be enough for the Chiefs to win the match, but I think that the Reds will stay in the fight and make it a close tie.
