Finished the regular season in 3rd place winning 5 of their matches and losing 2. They played 4 matches at home, winning 2 and losing 2 early on and they also lost their final home match by 9 points to the Maties. In between they beat UWC by 22 points and Pukke by 9 points. The lowest total points recorded in a Shimlas home match this season was 61 in their 35-26 win over Pukke.
The Shimlas were underdogs when they met the Maties in the semi-final in Stellenbosch last week, but they dominated the match from start to finish, winning 38-24 to silence the crowd in the Danie Craven Stadium.

Finished 4th on the log with 4 wins, a draw and 2 losses. UCT played 4 matches on the road in the league stage beating Shimlas first up before a 33-33 draw away to Wits an 82 point hiding of the UWC and finally a 30-18 loss to the Pukke in their final League match. They were then away to the self-same Pukke in the semi-finals where they played superbly to win 32-18 to book their spot in the Final.

The Total Points Line is quoted at 62.5 at the time of writing and while that seems high for a Final, there has been a history of high scoring fixtures between these sides and the Shimlas, in particular, played high scoring fixtures this season.
