We take a look at the three United Rugby Championship matches involving South African teams that are taking place on Saturday and suggest a bet in each game.
Let’s start with a look at the latest United Rugby Championship Outright Betting where Leinster are still firm favourites at 8/15 heading in to Round 13. As far as the South African sides go the Blue Bulls are 13/2, the Stormers 9/1, the Lions 66/1 and the Sharks are now out to 500/1.

SHARKS v EDINBURGH – Click here to bet
The Sharks climbed off the foot of the table with just their second win of the season last week when they beat Ulster 22-12 at home. Previous home games have seen them lose by 4 points to the Stormers and 2 points to the Lions.
Edinburgh are currently 6th on the log and they saw a 3 match winning streak ended last week when they went down 43-21 to the Stormers in Cape Town. Edinburgh’s International players made the trip to South Africa and I am expecting them to be unleashed in Durban this weekend.
Head-to-Head
The Sharks beat Edinburgh 22-19 away from home last season, but the season before that it was Edinburgh who triumphed 21-5 in Durban.
Handicap: Sharks -7.5
Verdict
The Sharks put in an impressive second-half last week, but they still left too many points out on the field and I think that a highly motivated Edinburgh side will get at least a losing bonus point out of this one.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Edinburgh +7.5 at 17/20

OSPREYS v LIONS – Click here to bet
The Ospreys are 11th on the log having gone down 27-17 at home to Munster last week. Their previous two home games were a 2 point victory over Ulster and a 6 point victory over Cardiff.
The Lions are up to 8th on the table after hammering Connacht 38-14 away last week, a game where they started +8.5 and also lost a player to a red card in the first-half. The Lions will be looking for their 3rd successive victory after also having beaten the Sharks 40-10 in South Africa in early March.
Head-to-Head
The Ospreys beat the Lions 38-28 in Johannesburg last season, but the last time the Lions visited the Ospreys they came away 28-27 victors.
Handicap: Ospreys -1.5
Verdict
This looks like being a tight game and will go down to the wire and I am going to have a bet that the Lions lead at the break, but that the Ospreys storm back to win the match.
Suggested Bet: Half-Time/Full-time Lions/Ospreys at 11/2
STORMERS v ULSTER – Click here to bet
The Stormers are currently 5th on the table with 7 victories and 5 defeats. Last week they were too strong for Edinburgh at home, winning 43-21, a game where they started 14 point favourites.
Ulster started narrow favourites against the Sharks, but dropped down to 7th on the table after a 22-12 loss in Durban.
These sides are separated by only 1 point on the table.
Head-to-Head
Ulster beat the Stormers 35-5 at home last season and the last time the sides met in Cape Town in 2022, the Stormers triumphed 17-15.
Handicap: Stormers -11.5
Verdict
Stormers won comfortably last week without really finding top gear and I think they are going to be too strong for an Ulster side which has had a number of disruptions at management level.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Stormers -11.5 at 17/20
