Winter Rainfall : Kenilworth Race 6 Number 5 @ 9/2
After taking her chances in the Gold Rush over 1600m, Winter Rainfall drops back to a more preferred role as a sprinter. Handily weighted 57kgs on her back, she finds herself 3kg better off than Candy Town on their meeting in July and will look to cement that form. Japanese Rose may be another to include depending if she can reproduce her earlier Durbanville form, but having already recorded 2 wins at the course, Winter Rainfall does provide the Each Way value
Just be Lekker : Turffontein Race 5 Number 3 @ 7/2
It’s widely agreed that the Western Cape benefits horses who travel back to the Highveld after a campaign, and the Candice Dawson 3 year old looks set to continue the trend. Having left Randjesfontein with an impressive record of 2 wins and a place from 4 starts, she ran 2nd on her WC debut before losing her way slightly, only to record a solid 4th place finish in the Gold Rush in her last start in Cape Town. The booking of Gavin Lerena provides further encouragement of her well-being in her first start back on home turf and it would be no surprise to see account for the fancied Vix Princess.
Lake Como : Scottsville Race 6 Number 7 @ 16/1
Outclassed and reported as being slightly injured, it is safe to write off our selection’s last run as he slots back into a more suitable handicap contest this time around. Lake Como met Giambattista 4 runs back and finished just under a length ahead of him and still enjoys a further 3kg weight advantage this time around, which represents a major discrepancy in the prices of the two ( 2/1 vs 16/1 ).
Respect must obviously be given to Pongola and JHB raider Ode to the Ocean, but at the price, Lake Como cannot be excluded from any permutations.
