We take a look at 4 of the DSTV Premiership fixtures taking place on Saturday including the big Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.
Orlando Pirates v Kaizer Chiefs – Click here to bet
Fixtures don’t come any bigger than this in South Africa and these sides are separated by only 1 point on the log with Pirates sitting 5th and Kaizer Chiefs 6th.
Orlando Pirates last action was at home to Cape Town Spurs with the game finishing 1-1 and their last 3 matches have all delivered profits for under 2.5 goal backers.
Kaizer Chiefs are on a 7 match unbeaten run in the League. They broke a 3 match streak of draws with a 1-0 home win over Arrows last time out. Had you been backing over 2.5 goals in Chiefs last 8 League matches, you would have lost your money on each occasion.
Head-to-Head
Pirates beat Chiefs 1-0 in the reverse fixture. Incredibly there hasn’t been a drawn match in the last 16 meetings across all competitions and the last 10 head-to-head games have all been won by exactly 1 goal.
Pirates are the 21/20 favourites with the draw 2/1 and Chiefs 3/1.
Verdict
There is very little between these sides and I am betting that we get the first draw since 2018.
Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1
SuperSport United v AmaZulu – Click here to bet
SuperSport are currently 4th on the log, but they are without a win in their last 3 starts. They are coming off back-to-back 1-1 draws away to Cape Town City and at home to Stellenbosch.
AmaZulu are 11th on the table and are also without a victory in their last 3 games, drawing 1-1 to Swallows at home last time out and that was on the back of away defeats to Sundowns and Cape Town Spurs. The Cape Town Spurs loss was particularly disappointing as they started 17/20 favourites.
Verdict
This fixture finished goalless at AmaZulu, but SuperSport have won the last 2 home meetings in this fixture and I am going to back them to get the win.
Suggested Bet: SuperSport United win at 5/6

Mamelodi Sundowns v Chippa United – Click here to bet
Sundowns are 11 points clear at the top of the table and they have 2 games in hand on their nearest Rivals, Stellenbosch. They are undefeated this season with 13 victories and 3 draws and last time out beat AmaZulu 3-0 at home.
Chippa United are currently 10th on the log and they are undefeated in their last 3 matches including a 3-0 home win over Richards Bay last time out. Prior to that they drew 1-1 on the road with Stellenbosch.
Verdict
Sundowns are short-priced favourites here at 3/10, but justifiably so given the incredible defensive record which has seen them concede just 4 goals in 16 matches. I am going to back Sundowns to win this one by two goals or more.
Suggested Bet: Handicap, Sundowns -1.5 goals at 19/20
Richards Bay v TS Galaxy – betting on this game down at the time of posting so keep an eye on this link
Richards Bay are currently 15th on the log and they will be looking to break a run of 3 successive losses, most recently going down 3-0 away to Chippa United. Their last home game was a 2-1 defeat to Royal AM and over 2.5 goal backers would have collected profits in Richards Bay’s last 4 games.
TS Galaxy are 8th on the log, but saw a 3 match winning streak ended when they went down 2-0 away to Cape Town Spurs in their last start. Their away form has been poor this season, losing 6 and drawing 1 of their 8 matches.
Head-to-Head
These sides played to a 1-1 draw at TS Galaxy earlier this season and this fixture finished 0-0 last season.
Verdict
TS Galaxy look very short to me at 21/20 given their away record and there may be some value in backing Richards Bay. In the end I think over 2.5 goals is the play at 7/4 given the relatively high scoring nature of Richards Bay matches.
Suggested Bet: Over 2.5 goals at 7/4*
