In Cape Town’s last game, they faced the Sunrisers, losing the toss and being asked to bowl first. Despite taking an early wicket, MI Cape Town couldn’t maintain momentum, allowing the Sunrisers middle order to up the scoring rate. This resulted in the Sunrisers scoring a total of 165 runs in the 20 overs, with MI Cape Town only managing to take six wickets.
They followed this with a fairly similar batting performance, losing an early wicket and the middle-order batsmen contributing the most to the run-scoring. Both Pollard and Curran topped the batting for MI Cape Town, each scoring 30 runs. However, this wasn’t enough as Cape Town ended up falling short by four runs after playing the full 20 overs, resulting in their fifth loss of the tournament, and placing them 5th on the table.
JOBURG SUPER KINGS
In the Joburg Super Kings most recent match, they faced the Pretoria Capitals, losing the toss and having to bat first. They opened relatively strong, scoring 44 runs in the first 5 overs and losing only two wickets. However, this promising start quickly came to an end as the rain arrived, leading to the match being abandoned. As a result, the Super Kings sit in last place on the table.
HEAD TO HEAD
The last time these two sides faced each other was early in this year’s tournament, where MI Cape Town managed to secure a comfortable 98-run win at the Wanderers. They lost the toss but put up a massive 243/5 and then bowled the Kings out for 145 in the 18th over.
