Australian Open Men’s Semi-Finals Betting Preview

We take a look at the two Australian Open Men’s singles semi-finals and suggest a bet in each game.

Novak Djokovic is the 7/10 favourite to win the title ahead of Jannik Sinner at 16/5, you can get 5/1 Medvedev and 8/1 Zverev.

NOVAK DJOKOVIC v JANNIK SINNER

Top seed, Novak Djokovic hasn’t had things all his own way on route to the semi-finals and he has been pushed to a 4^th set on 3 occasions, most recently in his quarter-final against 12^th seed, Fritz where he dropped the 2^nd set before winning the 3^rd and 4^th sets 6-2, 6-3.

Djokovic has won a record 10 Australian Open Titles and is on a 33 match unbeaten run in this Tournament.

4^th seed, Sinner has been in commanding form and has yet to drop a set in this Tournament.  He was too strong for 5^th seed, Rublev beating him 6-4, 7-6, 6-3 in their quarter-final.

Head-to-Head

Djokovic has won 4 out of the 6 meetings between the pair, but Sinner has won 2 of the last 3 including saving 3 match points in a Davis Cup match in November of 2023, winning the third set 7-5

I can’t go against Djokovic here, but I do think Sinner is going to prove a handful and I am going to bet that Djokovic plays yet another 4 setter.

DANIIL MEDVEDEV v ALEXANDER ZVEREV

3^rd Seed Medvedev has had a tough run to get to the semi-finals and none tougher than his quarter-final against 9^th seed Hurkacz where he won the 5^th and deciding set 6-4.  He was also pushed to a 5^th set in the 2^nd round against unseeded Ruusuvuori, winning the 5th set 6-0.

Medvedev was the beaten finalist at the Australian Open in 2021 and 2022.

6^th Seed Zverev pulled off an upset in the quarter-finals beating 2^nd seed Alcaraz in 4 sets.  He was pushed to a 5^th set by 19^th seed, Norrie in the 4^th round, winning 10-3 in the 5^th set tie-breaker.  An unseeded Klein also pushed him to a tie-breaker in the 5^th set in the 2^nd round.

This will be his second semi-final appearance in the Australian Open, having lost at this stage of the Tournament in 2020.

Head-to-Head

These players have met 18 times on tour with Medvedev winning 11 and Zverev 7.  Medvedev has won 5 of the last 6 meetings between the pair.

Both these men have played some hard matches, but Zverev had the relatively easier quarter-final and I think that slightly fresher legs could give him an edge here.  I am going to back the German to win this one.
