The DP World Tour remains in Dubai this week as Emirates Golf Club host the annual Dubai Desert Classic on its championship course, The Majlis.
THE COURSE
Only a 24-minute drive from last week’s venue (Dubai Creek Resort), Emirates Golf Course lies at the centre of Dubai. The par 72 course plays at 7 301 yards with a picturesque back drop of the Dubai skyline. Being built over the sandy dunes, waste areas are no place to be and a straight hitting shot is essential off the tee. The fairways are generous and the forecast for Thursday through Sunday is warm and partly cloudy so weather shouldn’t be an obstacle this week.

BETTING
The bookies have last year’s winner and world number 2, Rory Mcilroy as favourite to win at 33/10. Rory led last week going down the final hole when a stray tee shot into the water led to a bogey that lost him the title by 1 shot. Next at 10/1 is Tyrrell Hatton who is off the back of a 13th spot finish on the PGA Tour, only 5 shots from the winner. Tommy Fleetwood, last weeks winner on the DP World Tour comes in a close third at 11/1 and will look to make it back-to-back wins.

Selections:
Tommy Fleetwood each way at 11/1
The 11th ranked golfer in the world will come into this week booming with confidence. After making a birdie on the last hole to beat Ryder Cup teammate Rory Mcilroy, Fleetwood secured his seventh DP World Tour win. Fleetwood has had two top 2 finishes in his last three starts and will look to carry his momentum into this week’s field.
Thriston Lawrence each way at 40/1
Lawrence will be looking to make up for his disappointing performances from his last 3 starts at the Desert Classic, managing to miss all 3 cuts. Currently playing brilliant golf, the South African has managed 4 top 10 finishes in his last 5 starts, with 1 runner up coming last weekend. Surely, he will look to put his name at the top of the leaderboard this week.
Rory McIlroy win only at 33/10
The man they will all look to catch. There is no doubt that Rory loves The Majlis. With 6 top 10 finishes in his last 6 starts at the Desert Classic he will be looking to lift the trophy for a 3rd time while defending his title from last year. After a disappointing finish to last weeks Dubai Invitational, Rory will have a point to prove on one of his favourite courses.
Nicolai Hojgaard each way at 22/1
The 22-year-old Dane will be looking to add his 5th professional golf title to his name. With an impressive runner-up and win at the back-end of last year’s season, Hojgaard will want a kick start to the new season and an improved performance after last week’s 25th place finish.
