The 3rd Round of the FA Cup draws to a close on Monday night when Wigan hosts Manchester United and we take a look at the game from a betting angle.
Manchester City remain firm favourites to win the FA Cup after their comfortable 5-0 victory over Huddersfield on the weekend and you can click here for the latest Outright Betting.
WIGAN
Wigan have been impressive in booking their spot in the 3rd Round beating Exeter on the road and York City also on the road and they didn’t concede a goal in either game. As far as their domestic form goes they are currently sitting 18th on the table in League One with 3 losses, a victory and a draw in their last 5 starts. Wigan’s last 4 matches in the League have delivered profits for under 2.5 goal backers.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United are currently 8th in the English Premier League and have only taken 4 points from the last 15 they have played for. They were beaten 2-1 at Nottingham last time out and they have really battled on the road of late taking just 1 point from the last 12 they have played for. 55% of Manchester United matches have reached the 3 goal mark and that puts them towards the lowest scoring end of the EPL table.
Head-to-Head
There hasn’t been any recent head-to-head form, but we can go back to the 2016/17 FA Cup where Manchester United won 4-0 at home. Wigan were last in the Premier League in the 2012/13 season where both fixtures also finished 4-0 to Manchester United.

Manchester United 2/9
VERDICT
Manchester United have a proud history of the FA Cup, but it is hard to see past them winning this game, but the 2/9 on offer is certainly too short for my pocket. Looking at Wigan’s recent matches they have got a good defence and I reckon Manchester United will be content to just get the job done and perhaps win by a goal or two. I am going to bet that we get 3 goals or less in this one at odds of 11/8.
Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 goals at 11/8
I am also going to add a first Goal Scorer bet where I fancy Anthony Martial at 4/1 to find the net first.
Suggested Bet: Anthony Martial 1st goal at 4/1
