The rest of the golfing world may be putting its feet up for the holidays, but the DP World Tour and Sunshine Tour continue with the Mauritius Open taking place at the La Réserve Golf Links this weekend.
THE COURSE
This will be the 7th renewal of the Mauritius Open, but the first time that the La Réserve Golf Links has hosted it.
The course plays to a par 72 and having watched a flyover I can confirm that it is a classic links course set up against the Indian Ocean and it should make for some great viewing.
BETTING
Louis Oosthuizen tops the betting boards at 7/1 and he was co-designer of the course so should know every nuance as he looks to go back-to-back having won at Leopard Creek last week. Matthieu Pavon and Antoine Rozner are joint second favourites at the time of writing at 14/1 and you can get 22/1 and better the balance.

SELECTIONS
Suggested Bet: Louis Oosthuizen win only at 7/1
Oosthuizen wobbled down the stretch at Leopard Creek, but he finally got that victory under his belt and he certainly played some excellent golf over the 4 days.
As mentioned above he co-designed this course so should have an excellent idea of how to play it and he is of course a proven winner on links golf courses. Oosthuizen is at the age where he is unlikely to let last week’s victory go to his head and in a field that lacks any real stars he stands out as a solid bet even at single figure prices.
Wilco Nienaber each way at 28/1
Nienaber is showing signs of getting back to form and he has had a Top 15 finish at the Joburg, the SA Open followed by a 32nd finish at Leopard Creek. Nienaber is long off the tee and were there a lot of wind forecast for the week I probably wouldn’t stick him in, but if he can bomb his way down these fairways he can set himself up for a low score and a great week.
Jacques Kruyswijk each way at 50/1
Kruyswijk has caught the eye in recent weeks having finished 4th in the Joburg Open and then 25th in the SA Open. He comes in here fresh after a week off and looks nicely priced in what isn’t the strongest of fields.
Jayden Schaper each way at 22/1
I am heading back towards the top of the betting boards for my final bet and I am backing a young man who has really impressed in recent weeks. I first encountered Schaper when I opposed him in a match play bet in the SA Open. That proved costly as he finished 5th and last week he was 7th at Leopard Creek, his 3rd consecutive Top 10 finish. I am not sure how much links golf he has played, but he looks to have a mature head on his shoulders and I am backing him to end the season in style.
