AFGHANISTAN
In this World Cup, Afghanistan has won two out of their five games, earning them four points and placing them in seventh position on the table. They are 150/1 to win the Cup and 25/1 to finish bottom of the group stage.
In their most recent match against Pakistan, Afghanistan lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. They restricted Pakistan with some disciplined bowling and Noor Ahmad delivered an outstanding performance with three wickets in the 10 overs he bowled. Pakistan ended on 282/7 after 50 overs and were favourites with the bookmakers to defend the total.
Afghanistan started strongly, with their first wicket falling at 130 runs in the 20th over. They maintained momentum throughout the innings, losing only one more wicket and scoring a total of 286 runs in 49 overs. Gurbaz, Zadran, and Shah each reached half-centuries, with Shahidi narrowly missing his by two runs.

SRI LANKA
Sri Lanka has won two out of their five games, accumulating four points. They are in 5th place on the table and are out to 100/1 to lift the cup.
In their most recent match against England, they lost the toss and were asked to bowl first. Their bowlers were excellent as they dismissed England in the 33rd over for a mere 156 runs. A standout performance came from Lahiru Kumara, who took three wickets in his seven overs going at just 5 runs an over.
Despite losing two early wickets within the first five overs, Sri Lanka quickly regained momentum and began accumulating runs. They comfortably chased down England’s 156-run target without losing any more wickets, and the game concluded in the 26th over. Nissanka and Samarawickrama, who both scored half-centuries, played significant roles in the chase.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The most recent encounter between these two teams occurred earlier this year in the Asia Cup, with Sri Lanka narrowly securing a victory by just two runs.

Afghanistan 29/20
Sri Lanka 11/20
Suggested Bet: Sri Lanka to be under 28.5 runs at the first dismissal at 17/20
Although Sri Lanka’s batsmen are currently in good form, the team has shown a tendency to lose early wickets, having done so in three of their last four games. I am backing the Afghanistan attack to make early inroads.
Suggested Bet: Afghanistan to be over 27.5 runs at the first dismissal at 17/20
Unlike Sri Lanka, Afghanistan’s openers have displayed great confidence at the crease, having lost an early wicket in just one of their last four games. They rely on their opening partnership to set a platform and I am betting on them to deliver again.
